Rimmel Wake Me Up vs Match Perfection

I am writing this post in the sunny state of Florida, I have been here for less than a week now and I love it! I will be posting a haul next week, to share everything I have bought. Today I will be sharing my opinion on two popular Rimmel foundations.

Starting off with the shade selection, the Match Perfection has a greater shade range, which suits a wider range of people. Especially people with pale skin.  Where as the Wake Me Up has a smaller shade range with the lightest being '100 Ivory'. This is the shade I have, I find that it comes out orange but blends out to a paler colour. I also have '100 Ivory' in the Match Perfection range and I find that it is a slightly different shade. This is perfect if your skin begins to get paler in the colder months.

The consistency is quite different, the Wake Me Up is thicker where as the other is runnier and thinner. I prefer a thicker foundation but I believe that a thinner foundation is easier to blend out. I love both consistencies as they work best at different times. For constictnecy I would go with your own personal opinion.

The Wake Me Up is a dewy finish with a medium finish whereas the Match Perfection is extremely dewy which looks very oily. Don't worry. With a little powder both of these powders can be mattified with a light dusting of a substantial powder. The Wake Me Up has a higher coverage with a more natural finish. The Match Perfection is similar but a lighter coverage. I personally think that Wake Me Up is a more natural foundation in daylight.

For me both of these foundations tend to last longer or shorter on different days. Sometimes the Match Perfection can last well on my skin but others the Wake Me Up just stays put and doesn't move. I don't know what it is and why my skin is like that.

If you have oily skin I would stay away from both of these foundations as they have the tendency to make you look dewy which could me mistaken for oiliness. If you like the radiance concept for your skin I would powder to counteract some of the dewiness.

In my personal opinion I like the Wake Me Up better as it has a very natural finish so I like to wear this for school. When I feel like it I like to wear the Match Perfection if I want to change things up a bit. I hope you liked this short review on these raved foundations. I think this should help you decide which foundation is best for your skin and preference.

Which Naked Palette Should You Buy?

Just over a month ago I made the snap decision to buy an Urban Decay Naked Pallet. I have always lusted after one and I never thought it would become a reality. At a hefty price tag I was a little put off, in the UK they retail for £37, in America its $54. This was a plunge for me, considering I'm 14, do not have a job and get a small amount of pocket money each week. Taking this in I took out some money the same day and I was so excited to own this first class pallet. With this task I was determined to find out which one I should buy.

There is three options to chose from Naked 1, Naked 2 and Naked 3. Although I was tempted by the Naked Basics and I was then intrigued with the Naked Basics 2. I ultimately wanted to get the best pallet which would suit me and work best with my complexion. I'll stop with the rambling and get straight to telling you what may work best for you. I asked for the help of my friends who have the Naked pallets to get an overall conclusion.

* Sorry it's the wrong way round *
Naked One

Me and my friend have agreed that this would suit warmer to darker skin tones. This is because the shades are very bronzed and warm toned. Also as this has a lot of shimmer, so might not look as natural, though you have a wash of one colour to make it look mods natural. This might look too harsh on very pale skin as it could wash you out. As most of these shades are sparkly; I would recommend them for someone who loves shimmer and anything glittery. If you can see in the last two shades, they look as if they have a blue undertone which is amazing. It would pull together a look seamlessly and look effortless on blue eyes.

Naked Two

I actually have this one and I think it would best suit cooler skin tones. The pallet comes with taupe hues which are known to work best on cool skin. I personally have a neutral complexion which leans more to the cool side of things, I think this works well with my skin. When I went to buy the Naked pallet the woman helped me decide by asking what colour jewelry I like to wear. If it was silver she said I would prefer the second pallet, if it was gold then the first pallet might suit me better. I love the Naked two pallet, it is so versatile with a few key mattes but with enough sparkle to see me through a party.

Naked Three

I remember when this pallet came out and every beauty guru got their hands on it, leaving me in a mental state as it looked stunning. As it came back in stock I realized that this pallet is more on the rose neutral end rather than the usual hues and warm toned browns. This selection of eye shadows will ensure that anyone with pale skin will be able to pull it off. As the colours are lighter with pink undertones; though keep in mind that they gradually get darker to more lusicious nudes. It is not exclusively better for warmer or cooler skin tones, so if you want to try it - go for it.

If you are unsure of your skin tone and just can not work it out click here to see a rough idea of what you might be. Before you make the decision of which one to buy, simply do your research to the best of your ability. Watch YouTube videos or blog post ideas to get a feel of what might suit you. Just remember that this is all my opinion and it does vary from your opinion so keep that in mind before you buy into the pallet.

Benefit | How to Look the Best at Everything

Benefit | How to Look the Best at Everything | £26.50

I was so overwhelmed when I received this Benefit beauty kit off my two friends Daisy and Becca for my birthday, it was a lovely joint gift and it would be a great option for a beauty lover friend that you might have.

In this kit it came with four deluxe mini's, the 'POREfessional', 'Hello Flawlesss Oxygen Wow Foundation', 'Boi-ing Concealer' and the 'Hellow Flawless Powder'. The whole purpose of this set was to have a taste of Benefit's products and to create a perfect base for your face. My friends got me the shade light which is perfect, but if you have a darker skin tone there is two other options - medium and deep.

First lets start with the primer; there is so much hype already about this and I just can't see why. I am not too keen on the silky feel, it can come across as greasy. No one wants that. I tried it out again hoping it would do Benefit's best selling product justice but it was no good. I found this did not keep my makeup on; even for a measly four hours. At the end of the night my foundation had gone patchy and I did not look good. I was so disappointed as I was so excited to try this product, unfortunately it is not for me. I find that without a primer my foundation tends to last so much longer, I have no idea why though. Although this could work for you, I have normal skin with no dry or oily patches so it might just be my skin type that it does not agree with.

Moving on to the foundation, this is a lovely formula and provides a light to medium coverage. Annoyingly the shade in the kit is too dark, but I might be able to pull it off when I have a tan after my holiday. This blends to an even coverage; be careful when applying as too much can cause a very caked on face.

Thirdly is one of my favourite concealers in the world. The boi-ing concealer, it's something I have never tried before as I usually use liquid concealers as I find them easier to use. This product has converted me, it gives a medium to high coverage and a matte finish which is perfect for under the eyes to erase your dark circles. I love this so much so I might purchase the full size if I use it all. It is also very handy as it comes with two shades, a lighter one which is good for highlighting; then a darker shade which would be good for when I have a tan.

Finally is the powder which requires a very light hand. I would carefully apply this around your T-zone and anything else you want to seal in. Also remember a powder will create the illusion that your face is matte, so don't apply too heavily. I love this the only problem is that it's fixed to the box and I don't want to break it. Though the product is spot on and I will definetly be using it more often.

A little bonus is that it comes with a brush, I wouldn't normally advise you to use a brush that comes with a product, but this is different. As it has small and compact brush hairs it will come in handy when you are contouring your face. It is the perfect shape to do this as it is thin and easy to hold.

Also if you didn't notice in the pictures that there is a massive mirror attached to the packaging. This is so useful as you could take out the frame which holds the products, then put your makeup in the box and it's like a makeup bag with a mirror. I didn't actually realise there was a mirror until I read a review, I felt so stupid as it's just under the helpful little instructions if you weren't sure what to do with the product.

I would recommend this set to anyone. It would be great as a gift or a little treat for yourself. I love the concept that you can try their products but not have to pay a hefty price tag. These are minis but are a decent size, so it should last you a while. There are other sets like this with different ideas linked to them. I love the one I received as you can't have great makeup until you have a perfect base.

All that Glitters

I love glitter, even though I tend not to use it every day. On special occasions though, I can't get enough. These are my top glitter loves which are all amazing and range from nail varnish to mascara. Just to add I also class gold packaging as glitter as it is so pretty; as I feel so special when I use it.

Topshop Glitter Nail Polish

This is absolutely amazing, I love the different sized glitter to it. When I look inside the bottle I can't resist and just want to paint my nails with it. Though with beautiful glitter nail colours comes the tough task of getting it off; surprisingly this wasn't as hard to take off as I expected, but it did take some scrubbing. I would recommend this to any if you were looking for an added sparkle for a party or event  that your attending. Unfortunately I think this is a limited addition from last Christmas but they must be bringing something similar back this year.

Avon Glitter Nail Polish

Another gold glitter nail varnish, sorry but they are so pretty. Unlike the Topshop one this has very small glitter particles in the actual polish, so is good for a topcoat to finish it off. I love this for finishing off the nails as it gives it a little touch and something extra to your manicure.

L'Oreal Glitter Topcoat Mascara

I have never seen this before but when I received this as a gift I couldn't help but feel intrigued. I use this as a mascara after I have applied my mascara to my bottom lashes. I feel that this helps define my lower lash line and opens up my eyes without being too in your face. I love the formula and brush, it helps you not to get too much on your brush but the right amount. On the brush there are silver sparkles and a metallic base to pull the mascara together to make it work. I cannot wait to wear this to parties as it would look amazing under dark lighting.

L'Oreal Lipstick

I know this isn't necessarily a 'glitter' product but still, look at that packaging. This is a true red shade; I love how pigmented this lipstick is. I love the luxurious feel of the gold packaging as it looks so seamless and I love it. The actual lipstick is creamy and doesn't bleed on the lips so a lip liner isn't a must which is perfect if you want a quick fix.

I hope you liked this kind of post, even though it is not quite party season yet I thought I would get ahead of the game and show you all my favourites. When it is time you are ready to look fantastic!
